One of the few major key works to be scored for four horns, the sonorities and voicings of Divertimento No. 2 are often quite distinctive. In Mozart’s time horns brought to mind hunting music and this piece is filled with such references. This ‘finale to the finale’ of the Divertimento is a cheerful rondo combining the rhythm of the hunt with the charm of the emerging Viennese waltz.
