William E. Moats
This piece for string orchestra is akin to a march for band. It moves along at a steady pace, as if walking, driven by the double bass and cellos. It is accessible to young players with a good command of first position. Running a little over three minutes at the marked tempo, there is use of pizzicato in all parts at various times. It provides an opportunity to work on a gradual decrescendo.
